Mission ViejoLocated in the Saddleback Valley, the southern portion of picturesque Orange County, Mission Viejo CA is one of the largest master-planned communities ever conceived. There are nearly 100,000 residents who make this their home, drawn to its high security and diverse amenities. In 2009, Mission Viejo was named as the safest city in the state of California, and the third safest in the entire nation, according to statistics compiled from FBI data. It is a suburban community, with residential streets punctuated with offices and businesses for residents to work and play in.

Although real estate in Mission Viejo is mostly residential, the community also includes a strong business community, a regional mall, and a community college.

Mission Viejo’s premier commercial development is an upscale mall located just off the Interstate 5 freeway and Crown Valley Parkway, known as The Shops at Mission Viejo. The mall houses an impressive variety of destination retailers, including Apple, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Macy’s and Abercrombie and Fitch.

One of the major benefits that residents of Mission Viejo CA enjoy is the numerous leafy trees that line all of the streets. This is so well-known that the city has received recognition from the National Arbor Day Foundation for its dedication to tree growth. Although it was originally used as ranching land, like much of Southern California, this part of Orange County is now home to many shopping centers and trendy eateries for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. Safety is also a planned part of the city, and Mission Hospital is the largest in this region of Orange County. There is also an important children’s hospital on   the premises.

Mission Viejo Homes & Property

Many of the local homes were completed in the 1980’s, with housing tracts selling out immediately. These homes are usually constructed in the traditional stucco style of a Spanish mission. However, newer homes are also available in a wide range of styles and sizes, with developments continuing to pop up with high demand in the area for new and improved home designs. The roads of Mission Viejo CA are meant to be geographically contoured to the hills, so that the homes are placed in a large master plan that blends into the countryside nicely, without ever feeling too crowded.

Outdoor recreation is an important part of life in this community, with about two parks planned per square mile. A popular amenity that is only available to residents of Mission Viejo CA is the manmade Lake Mission Viejo. This offers sporting, boating, and swimming facilities, as well as picnicking opportunities, hiking trails, and biking areas. Other sporting opportunities are available at the Mission Viejo Country Club. The city also has three golf courses, including the Casa del Sol Golf Course, the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, and the Mission Viejo Country Club. This can all keep residents and visitors busy during their time in the city.
